Why does my Kruti Dev text show as English letters?
Kruti Dev is an old-style font: it draws Hindi shapes over ordinary English letters, so ‘Hkkjr’ only looks like भारत when the Kruti Dev 010 font is installed and selected. On phones, websites and in email it shows as gibberish. Converting to Unicode fixes that permanently.
What is the difference between Kruti Dev and Unicode Hindi?
Unicode stores real Hindi letters, so the text reads correctly everywhere, can be searched and works with Google, WhatsApp and Mangal or Nirmala UI fonts. Kruti Dev stores English letters that only look Hindi in one font.
Which exams and offices still use Kruti Dev?
Many state government offices, courts and typing tests (such as some CPCT, court and clerk exams) still use Kruti Dev 010 with the Remington layout. Use Unicode to Kruti Dev when a form or office insists on it.
Does it handle half letters, ि and र्?
Yes. In Kruti Dev, ि is typed before its letter and र् (reph) after it. The converter moves them by whole letter clusters, so words like स्थिति, आर्थिक and कीर्ति come out right in both directions.
Does it work for Kruti Dev 010 only?
It follows Kruti Dev 010, the most common version. Other Kruti Dev fonts (011, 016, 040…) use the same layout for almost all letters, so they mostly convert correctly. Check special symbols after converting.
