Questions

What should a salary slip contain?

The employer’s name and address, the employee’s name, ID and designation, the month, days paid, each earning (basic, HRA, allowances) and deduction (PF, ESI, professional tax, TDS), gross pay, total deductions and net pay.

How is PF calculated on salary?

The employee’s share is usually 12% of basic pay plus DA. Many employers apply it only on basic up to ₹15,000, so the most deducted is ₹1,800 a month. Choose ‘On full basic’ if your company deducts on the whole basic, or change the rate.

When is ESI deducted?

ESI applies to employees whose gross pay is ₹21,000 a month or less: 0.75% of gross from the employee (the employer pays 3.25% separately). Above the limit, no ESI is deducted. Both figures can be changed on the form.

How are days without pay (LOP) calculated?

Each earning is reduced in proportion: pay × paid days ÷ days in the month. Some companies divide by a fixed 30 or 26 days instead; choose that under ‘A month’s pay is for’.

Who can use this salary slip generator?

Employers, HR staff and households that employ drivers, cooks or other help, to give staff a record of their pay. A payslip must reflect the salary actually paid; banks and lenders check it against your bank statement and Form 16.

Is the information uploaded anywhere?

No. Payslips are made in your browser. If you tick ‘Remember on this device’, only the company name, address, logo and signature are kept in this browser.
